I've decided to embrace the 'building in public' philosophy for my next project...
Traditionally, I've been very private about my development process. I would work in isolation, only sharing projects once they were 'perfect'. But I'm learning that this approach might be limiting my growth.
Building in public means sharing the messy middle - the failed attempts, the bugs, the pivot decisions, and the small victories along the way. It's about being vulnerable and authentic about the development process.
The idea of sharing unfinished work still makes me uncomfortable. There's a fear of judgment, of people thinking I don't know what I'm doing. But I'm realizing that this vulnerability is actually a strength.
I'm starting to document my development process more openly. Not just the final results, but the thinking behind decisions, the challenges I face, and the lessons I learn from mistakes.
The developer community has always been about sharing knowledge and helping each other grow. Building in public is just an extension of that philosophy - being transparent about the journey, not just the destination.
