The 4AM advantage isn't about waking up early

Apr 2026

Everyone talks about the 4AM wake-up like it's the secret. It's not.

The advantage is the silence. No Slack. No meetings. No one asking you for anything. For two hours, the only thing that exists is the problem in front of you.

I've shipped more meaningful code between 4AM and 6AM than in entire 8-hour office days. Not because I'm more disciplined at 4AM — but because the environment is different. Interruptions are the real enemy of deep work, not laziness.

The question isn't "can you wake up at 4AM?" It's "can you protect two hours of uninterrupted thinking every day?" The time of day is just one way to do it.
